Baby Ferruginous Pygmy Owl
Baby anything is cute. A baby Ferruginous Pygmy Owl is really, really, cute. Six hardworking adults on a Monday morning were briefly overcome by the cuteness of this little bird. I was inspecting the flower garden when I saw Blanca suddenly tense up and go into her hunter mode. I followed her and under a tree was this little bird. I intercepted Blanca just in time. I called to Rob to get a camera. While he was fetching, a truck came by full of solar workers and our Cuidador arrived on the scene. Francisco worked his magic and the little bird got on his hand. He found a nitch in a tree to put it up above predator reach. Baby flapped its wings for us. We could see it’s not injured. I think we found this little guy on a day it was learning to fly. It doesn’t even have feathers on its head, still spiky down. We’ll be keeping an eye on this little critter and I will report back. Meanwhile, I googled for you:
