Bird Watching

The number of birds in the area is stunning. Depending on time of year, you can see Roseate Spoonbills, Woodstorks, Tiger Herons, Great Blue Herons, and even more northern birds like Orioles that migrate down to or through Xcalak. There are tours you can take to rookery mangrove islands where hundreds of storks, frigate birds, and others nest in the winter. We even have a small bird island in the lagoons behind Acocote Eco Inn.
