My Summer Vacation 2017 Part V – San Miguel de Allende

My Summer Vacation 2017 Part V – San Miguel de Allende

Overview

Next stop was Matehuala, the last night before crossing the border to the US. But on the way I wanted to stop and check out San Miguel de Allende. It is a artist community that is popular among the gringos.

San Miguel de Allende

Rolling into San Miguel, you get a real old world colonial feel to the cobble stone streets and store fronts right on the sidewalk. Looking through trip advisor, we decided to have breakfast at the Oso Azul Cafe. Oso Azul was a great little coffee shop, with live music and some good breakfast.

Finding parking in centro was a trick but we did end up making it there. From there we went to the famous church, the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcangel. A spectacular gothic style cathedral. We also checked out a variety of artisan shops that are in every nook and cranny. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a ton of time to stay there, but this is another on the “spend more time” list.

We headed out for Matehuala and the Las Palmas hotel for our last night in Mexico on this road-trip.
